’Twas the night before Thanksgiving,

 in Mocksville, you see,

Not a soul stayed at home,

 not in all Davie County.

The streets felt electric,

 a holiday spark,

As headlights rolled in

 through the town after dark.

Kids home from college,

 old friends from afar,

Parking on Main Street

 and piling out of cars.

And where did they wander,

 with laughter and plans?

Why, straight through the doors

 of O’Callahans.

The pub glowed warm amber,

 poured pints in full streams,

Where the walls held a thousand

 Thanksgiving Eve dreams.

The new room was shining,

 a proud, Irish sight,

With a stone-framed fireplace

 throwing soft, golden light.

Tables filled quickly

 with families and mates,

As the scent of good cooking

 drifted out of the plates.

There were hugs near the doorway,

 cheers loud at the bar,

Voices calling out names

 like you’d never been far.

Generations together,

 from the old to the young,

Stories and memories

 on everyone’s tongue.

The Guinness poured steady,

 the whiskey poured bold,

While tales of the past

 were retold and re-told.

The band played softly,

 then lively, then loud—

A true Irish welcome

 that gathered the crowd.

And the owner looked on

 with a proud little grin,

As the place he had built

 pulled the whole county in.

For Thanksgiving Eve magic

 is a rare, special thing—

It’s the warmth of the hearth

 and the laughter it brings.

And in Mocksville each year,

 as tradition now stands,

The heart of the night

 beats at O’Callahans.

So here’s to good company,

 to love, and to cheer,

To the pub that brings Mocksville

 together each year.

May the fire keep glowing,

 may the pints never cease—

And may all who walk in

 find a little Irish peace.
